2010 Boys & Girls Club - Captain D’s Kickoff Classic Results The 2nd annual Boys & Girls Club- Captain D’s Kickoff Classic was hosted Saturday August 21, 2010 at Greeneville High School’s Burley Stadium by Greeneville Jr. Bears 26 Morristown Crusaders 16 In the opening game of the 2nd Annual Boys and Girls Club Captain D’s Kick Off Classic the Greeneville Jr. Bears took the win over the Morristown
Crusaders 26 to 16. The Bears high powered running game was fueled by 137 yards rushing by Cameron Hite. Hite’s carries included 60 yard and 50 yard touchdown runs. Dalton McClain added 97 yards on the ground with 2 touchdown runs of 20 and 60 yards. Bears quarterback Cade Ballard finished the game with 28 yards rushing and 19 yards in the air. Garrin Shuffler also added 28 yards rushing to the Bears offense. For the Morristown Crusaders their only scores came in the second quarter. Mason McDaniel scampered 23 yards for the Crusader touchdown. Connor Jordan’s pass to McDaniel completed the two point conversion. McDaniel also ran 60 yards to score his second touchdown of the day. For the extra point conversion, McDaniel completed his pas to Christian King. McDaniel ended the game with 90 yards rushing. Jacob Ward pumped out 50 yards and Jordan added 23 yards to the Crusaders cause.
Colonial Heights JV 26 Chuckey Doak JV 0 In the second game of the day, the Colonial Heights Chargers JV defeated Chuckey-Doak JV 26 to 0. The Chargers started off the game with a pair of rushing touchdowns in the first quarter by #29 and #31. #29 ran the ball in from 59yards out and #8 helped the effort by running in the extra point. #31 ran 56 yards to score. The extra point pass by #8 failed. In the second quarter, # 8 went to the air and hooked up with Logan Shelton for a 19 yard touchdown catch. #8 then went on to carry in the extra point. The last score of the game for the Chargers came on a 63 yard TD run by #5. #5’s pass on the extra point was incomplete. The Jr. Black Knights did not get any points on the board, but got great efforts by Jake Kirk and Matthew Palazzo who added 10 and 7 yards respectively to the Black Knights offense. Colonial Heights Varsity 21 Greeneville Patriots 6 As the rain begin to fall at Burley Stadium, the Greeneville Patriots took on Colonial Heights Chargers. The Chargers defeated the Patriots 21 to 6. In the first quarter, Colonial Heights got on the board when Cole Maupin hooked up with Ryley Hall on a 12 yard touchdown pass. Maupin ran in the PAT. The Patriots found the end zone too with their passing game when Tanner Barkley hit Justin Casteel with a 56 pass. The extra point conversion failed making the score 7-6 Chargers. The next score did not come until the third when Colonial Heights’s Maupin passed 5 yards again to Hall. Maupin carried the ball in for the PAT. The Chargers scored again when Trey Fields scampered 34 yards for the score. Fields also ran in the extra point conversion. Colonial Heights got 91 and 77 total yards of rushing from Fields and Maupin respectively. Justin Casteel had 56 yards of receiving for the Greeneville Patriots. Dakota Ragon added 9 yards of rushing for the Greeneville Patriots. Greeneville Jr. Patriots 18 Gray Blazers 12 The Greeneville Jr. Patriots took the fourth game of the day over the Gray Blazers 18 to 12. The Jr. Patriots started off the game with a 44 yard touchdown run by Kenny Kershaw. Keyontae Harrison pounded in the extra point run for the Jr. Patriots. The Blazers matched that score with an 8 yard run by Jacob Good. The extra point run was no good. The Jr. Patriots answered back with a 4 yard touchdown run by Kershaw. The extra point failed. For the Blazers, Good dashed 32 yards to the end zone to end the second quarter. Colton Adams pass for the extra point was incomplete. In the fourth, the Jr. Patriots’ Kershaw scored again on a 28 yard run. Kershaw ended the day with 168 yards on the ground. Keyontae Harrison pounded in 50 yards and Kevin Sanchez ran 34 yards for the Jr. Patriots offense. The Gray Blazers got 93 yards of offense from Adams. Chad Hegler ran 42 yards for the Blazers. Good also added 36 yards for Gray. David Crockett Jr. Pioneers 27 Chuckey Doak Varsity 0 In the 4pm game David Crocket Jr. Pioneers took down Chuckey Doak Black Knight Varsity 27 to 0. The first half saw two Jr. Pioneer scores from Austin Britton of 1 and 7 yards. After Britton’s 1 yard score, Johnny Barnett ran in the PAT. Britton score two more times for the Jr. Pioneers in the scored half. In the third, Britton scampered in from 7 yards out. Barnett tossed to Noah Holcomb to convert the extra point. Then in the fourth, Britton again ran 13 yards to score for David Crockett. The PAT failed. For the Black Knights, quarterback, Christian Vasquez, had 31 total rushing yards. Brendon Kimery also added 7 yards for Chuckey Doak. Greeneville Bears 27 Erwin Blue Devils JV 0 The Greeneville Bears shutout the Erwin Blue Devils JV 27 to 0 in the sixth game of the Kick Off Classic. The Greeneville Bears got all of their point off of four runs by Devin Jennings of 3, 4, 32 and 38 yards. In Jennings’s third quarter score Jacob Willet went to the air to Jordan Idell for the PAT conversion. After Jenning’s 32 yard run, Evan Foulks ran in the extra point for the Bears. The Blue Devils did not make it to the end zone but got great runs out of Brett Strother and Hank Woodfin with total rushing yards of 32 and 15 yards respectively. Bradley McLoud also added 11 yards the Erwin. The Bears got 55 total rushing yards from Jennings. Lane Tweed added 41 yards for the Bears. Seth Crawford also ran 35 yards for Greeneville. Erwin Blue Devils Varsity 27 North Greene Huskies 7 Wrapping up the final game of the day were the North Greene Huskies and the Erwin Blue Devil. The Devils got off to a good start with Nick Fender running the ball in from 2 yards out. The Devil’s extra point effort failed. Fender carried the ball 31 yards for a Devil touchdown again in the second quarter. Erwin fumbled the ball on the extra point attempt making the score 12-0 at the half. The Huskies got on the board in the third quarter with a Dawson Russell 18 yard touchdown run. Russell also converted the PAT run making the score 12-7. Erwin answered back when Fender ran in two more touchdowns of 8 and 53 yards for the Blue Devils. Both extra points failed making the final score 27 to7. For the Blue Devils, Fender finished the game with 167 yards rushing. Also for Erwin, Owen Nicholson added 45 yards of offense. The Boys & Girls Club of Greeneville & Greene County officially launched The Boys & Girls Club of Greeneville & Greene County will be starting a four team traveling football program this fall for children ages 7-12 years old. The teams will play on Saturdays locally at The league will have two Pee Wee and two Midget teams. The Pee Wee teams for boys & girls ages 7, 8 & 9 and all players must be 7 years old by August 1st and no older than 9 years old before August 1st. The Midget teams will be for boys & girls ages 10, 11, and 12 years old and all players must be 10 years old by August 1st & no older than 12 years old before August 1st. Practices for Head coaches for The Boys & Girls Club is taking registrations now until each team is filled. All players must also be registered as a member of
