2009 Baseball Skillz & Drillz Clinic a Grand Slam

The Greeneville Astros and the Boys & Girls Club teamed up again to present the 4th annual Baseball Skillz & Drillz Clinic on Saturday, July 11th for local kids at Pioneer Park the home of the Greeneville Astros. The free clinic was sponsored by the Boys & Girls club and the Greeneville Astros and provided baseball skills training by the Greeneville Astros players and coaches to all in attendance. The baseball clinic was topped off with pizzas and drinks at the end of the training and then each participant was given free tickets to a Greeneville Astros game. The participants were also greeted with free t-shirts from the clinic sponsored by local businesses. Greeneville Astros players & coaches did basic drills in hitting, pitching, base running and fielding in all positions as young players were shifted every 15 minutes to be able to work on every position from infield and outfield to pitching and catching. “The Astros organization is great to work with many community organizations and we have been able to do several events with them over the years” stated Scott Bullington, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club. “David Lane, Hunter Reed and the entire staff of the Greeneville Astros have really worked hard to provide many activities for all the youth of our community” Bullington added. Boys & Girls Clubs of America are the official charity of Major League Baseball and locally the Greeneville Astros have been a partner with the local Boys & Girls Club in several events. The Greeneville Astros help hosting a community wide Pitch, Hit & Run Competition, a Boys & Girls Club Night at a Astros game and have several other activities with the Boys & Girls Club during the year. The Astros players and staff visit with the kids at the Boys & Girls Club throughout the season.

The free clinic was sponsored by Dr. Mike Menz of the Orthopaedic Center of Greeneville and provided baseball skills training by the Greeneville Astros players and coaches to all in attendance. Greeneville Astros Visit With the Boys & Girls Club Kids |
|
The Greeneville Astros visited the Club to sign autographs and play with the kids during our summer program. This is a fun time for the kids to meet the players and possibly a future major league baseball player for the Houston Astros. The Astros do several activities with the Club kids throughout the year. | |
