It was a thrilling day for local youth football players when the Tusculum College Pioneer Football Team teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club to hold their annual Football Skills Clinic at the Tusculum College Pioneer Football field. This clinic was free for all Greeneville and Greene County youth and a very enthusiastic group of kids turned out for the football clinic. The clinic was run by Tusculum College head football coach Frank DeBusk and the Tusculum College players. Coach DeBusk talked to the kids about working hard on their education, sportsmanship and teamwork. DeBusk then broke the kids down in several groups for offensive and defensive drills and the kids participated in many different activities. The kids were able tod o the drills just like the team does each day at practice as they prepare for their weekly opponents. "Our football program is very grateful for the support we receive from our community," said Coach Frank DeBusk. "We hope this clinic will serve as a spring board for young people in our area to become more familiar with the sport of football and our college and football program. Positive mentoring is one of the valuable lessons we teach our student athletes and hope the young people who attend the clinic will get something out of it", he added. |
The Pioneers are idle this week after football team routed visiting Saint Paul's College 69-0 last Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field.
