Over $19,000 Raised At Boys & Girls Club Auction The Boys & Girls Club made an estimated $19,000 Saturday night at its third annual “Celebrity Auction,” which was held at The most sought after item was a framed gold embossed autographed picture of Golf Pro Tiger Woods that went for $400. Other items auctioned at great interest were: a Joe Paterno autographed Penn State football, a Peyton and Archie Manning – autographed framed picture, a Tusculum College football helmet, a Milwaukee Bucks team-autographed basketball, an APEX CD player, a Jeff Gordan-autographed Daytona 500 ticket, a Pat Summitt autographed Lady Vols basketball, a Phillip Fulmer autographed UT football, a Joe Fraiser autographed photo, and a Buzz Peterson-autographed basketball. Also, a Sony HiFi system from Wal-Mart Transportation, a photo autographed by country music star Sara Evans, Bristol Motor Speedway Tickets, a Troy Aikman-autographed Dallas Cowboys program, Grease movie photo autographed by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, an LSU football game jersey and Bobby Bowden FSU autographed license plate, and golf packages from The Ridges, River Trace, Cattails, Tri-Cities Golf Course, Pine Oaks, and Buffalo Valley Golf Course. The club also auctioned off many gift certificates to area restaurants, car details, movie tickets, Comedy Zone tickets, and other local items of interest. The auctioneers were Leon Bird and Scott Wills. Bullington thanked everyone that donated an item for the auction, “because without their help the auction would have not been the success that it was.” He also thanked Carla Weems, Gary Compton, Luke Shelton, Phelan Story, Kristen Lorch, Ty Moore, Christy Fisher, Beth Bryant, and all of the club’s board members. All proceeds from the auction go to the local Boys &Girls Club to support activities for local youth. Club President Jim Carter gave the introduction and invocation for the evening. The event’s chairmen this year were Carter and Dr. Michael Menz.
