Specialized Programs

Throughout the year the Boys & Girls Club offers specialized programs to coincide with seasonal events and holidays.

Objectives:
  • To offer youth fun and engaging activities during seasonal events and holidays
  • To develop a multicultural appreciation
  • To give Club kids days that focus on a happy, youthful experience
  • To develop meaningful mentorships

Some of our Specialized Program activities include:

Christmas Party:
Every December our youth are able to participate in a Christmas party just for them! Santa and his elves visit the Club to give gifts to every boy and girl that is at the Club that day. Youth are also served delicious Christmas cookies for a snack.
Cinco de Mayo:
In May of each year, Club kids celebrate the tradition of Cinco de Mayo. Youth celebrate with sombreros, maracas and burritos.
Easter Egg Hunt:
Each year around Easter, our kids participate in a Club wide Easter Egg Hunt.Youth have the chance to dye or paint Easter eggs which are then hidden around the Club along with plastic eggs for a chance to win an Easter basket.
Halloween Party:
To celebrate Halloween, we throw a costume party each year for our youth. Our gym is decorated from top to bottom complete with a cemetery, games area and spider webs! Halloween themed activities are held throughout  the day with a costume contest ending the festivities.
Mardi Gras Party:
During the month of February, our youth celebrate Mardi Gras by busting pinatas, making masks and enjoying the holiday!
Monthly Birthday Parties:
Each month we host a birthday party for all the kids at the Club and recognize ones with a birthday in that month by singing to them and having a birthday cake and special snacks. We also decorate a bulletin board each month to recognize those with birthdays that month. Local businesses and organizations area able to sponsor and help give the parties for the kids.
Mentoring Program:
This daily program offers Club kids the chance to develop role models, mentors and friends through Club staff. Youth are able to see first hand the positive influence Club staff have on them.
St. Patrick's Day: In March of each year, we celebrate St. Patrick's Day with our Club kids. We commemorate the day with green themed snacks and decorations.
Thanksgiving Dinner: Each November we observe the Thanksgiving holiday by hosting a Club wide Thanksgiving dinner to kids and their parents. We offer all the traditional trimmings of a Thanksgiving feast including turkey, mashed potatoes, assorted desserts and much more.
