Sports & Recreation

Our Sports, Fitness and Recreation program helps youth to develop fitness, a positive use of leisure time, reduction of stress, appreciation for the environment, and social and interpersonal skills. Our programs instill teamwork, a sense of responsibility, and the importance of trust.
Objectives:
  • To provide team sports
  • To provide individual sports
  • To provide game room activities
  • To be aware of the outdoors and enjoy nature
  • To have fun

Some of our Sports and Recreation activities include:
Ballet:Throughout our After School Program, Club members participate weekly in a free dance class taught by students of Central Ballet. Club members learn basic dance moves throughout the year culminating a beautiful choreographed routine.
Basketball Skills Clinic & Basketball Camp: As a collaboration with Tusculum University, we offer basketball skills on shooting and dribbling. College players and coaches taught skills to those present. We also offer a 3 day mini basketball camp with area players and coaches.
Boys & Girls Club Olympics:A full day of fun where other Boys & Girls Clubs in the surrounding area come together to participate in a variety of fun Olympic and field day events and activities. The event is held on ETSU's campus in Johnson City, TN.
Cheer Expo: Our local cheer teams host a one day cheer expo event to highlight the skills and talents of cheer teams and to celebrate cheerleading as a competitive sports. 
Cheerleader Program:  South Greene and Greeneville have cheer programs that accompany our fall football leagues. The teams practice weekly and cheer at games on Saturdays. They also have other opportunities such as cheering in local parades, The Ladies Classic and the Cheer Expo.
Eddie Brown Football Camp:This one day non-contact camp teaches basic football skills and drills for local kids. Guest instructors who previously played college and pro football assist the clinic each day.
Football Skills Clinic: This clinic, held annually each fall at Tusculum University, Coach Jerry Odom and the Pioneers football team offer a football clinic for the youth of our community.
Games Room Activities: We have many activities available for our Club kids in the games room including pool, Foosball, air hockey, Wii, Golden tee and board games.
Gym Sports: From basketball to kickball, from football to whiffle ball, we have many team activities going on weekly at the club during our summer and after school programs.
Pitch Hit & Run Competition:
This annual event for boys & girls tests their throwing, hitting and running skills in a competition setting.  The local winners may advance to area competitions with the ultimate goal of competing in a MLB stadium.
Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition: This collaboration with the Greeneville Recreation Department offers a skill competition in football punting, passing and kicking.  The event is held on a local high school’s football field with both boys and girls, ages 6-14 competing against each other for overall winners in each age group.
Swimming:
We take the kids swimming two days a week during the summer at Hardin Park.
Youth Football League: Our tackle football league is a part of the Watauga Jr. Athletic League. We have two Greeneville Teams (Grasscutters and Jr. Pee Wee) and three South Greene Teams (Mitey Mite, Grasscutter and Jr. Pee Wee). The teams  played their home games at Greeneville High's Burley stadium and South Greene High School they also traveled in the East Tennessee area for away games.  The teams are open to boys and girls ages 5 to 10 years old.
