The Arts

Our Arts program develops young people's interest in the fine arts. It enhances self-expression and creativity, provides exposure and develops skills in crafts and visual and performing arts and allows youth to have a safe place to be themselves.

Objectives:

  •     To increase self confidence
  •     To develop life long interest in the performing arts
  •     To build upon latent talents and abilities
  •     To develop new skills
  •     To have opportunities to receive positive recognition for accomplishments

Some of our Arts activities include:

Arts & Crafts Course:Youth are able to draw, paint, color, shape and mold items to create projects based on self-expression which they can take home when completed.

Central Ballet School and Theatre: This continuing program allows male and female Club members to learn from a classical style ballet class once a week at the Boys & Girls Club. This program is provided free of charge by the Central Ballet School and Theatre.

Greeneville Arts Council:In partnership with the Greeneville Arts Council, Club members are able to participate in a wide variety of seasonal crafts. From crafting tissue paper flowers in the Spring to painting pumpkins in the Fall to decorating Christmas ornaments in the Winter, Club members enjoy creating these works of art.

ImageMakers:This annual photography program introduces Club members to the basics of photography. Lessons are held to teach children the inside workings of a camera, as well as the techniques to capture light and precise angles. Fieldtrips are taken to give children the chance to take their own pictures in our community. ImageMakers National Photography contest has celebrated the accomplishments of Club youth as they learn the art and science of photography.  A local, regional and national competition is held to provide the opportunity for recognition of their accomplishments.

Camp NPAC Kids: A number of Club members participate in this one-week camp, offered by the NPAC, designed for 7th through 12th grade students. The camp provides educational and hands-on experience in voice, drama, costume design and set construction. After participating in the camp, all participants have the chance to audition for the play held at the end of the week.
