Workforce Readiness

Workforce Readiness

The purpose of the Workforce Readiness program is to challenge our kids to begin thinking about their lives and career aspirations after school ends. In this program, middle and high school students participate in business and industry tours and community partnerships that help expose them to many unique options in our community.

To help young people meet the workforce challenges of tomorrow, they need safe spaces, positive mentorship and work experiences today. At Boys & Girls Clubs, we allow kids and teens to:

Explore their interests and passions
Develop their employability skills
Apply their knowledge to real-world work experiences

College and Business Tours: While most middle school and high school students relax during Spring Break, members of the Club do the opposite. Club members ages 10 and up explore their options after high school graduation. They visit several area colleges and local businesses to help them lay the foundation for their life after high school. It is important for us to not only offer college tours to our members, but businesses tours as well as many of them cannot or do not want to attend college after graduation.

Oculus - Virtual Reality Training - Coming Soon! - Career and Workforce training opportunities in a virtual reality setting to help youth explore career paths and obtain training.

All kids deserve an equal opportunity to prepare for life after high school. But it is critical that young people develop skills and have experiences that help them prepare for all of the different paths that could be available to them.

Communities across America face significant challenges ensuring youth are adequately prepared to enter the workforce. U.S. employers say the inability to find qualified workers is their biggest obstacle to growth while at the same time more than 75% of youth express concerns about whether they have the skills necessary to secure a job.
